Biography

Orondaam Otto is a community organizer, a social entrepreneur and a development consultant, passionate about education and social reforms, nation building and community development.
Disturbed by the alarming number of out-of-School children in the slums and across Nigeria, Otto Orondaam resigned from his job in the bank in 2012 and founded Slum2School Africa, which has grown to become one of Africa’s leading volunteer driven developmental organizations, providing quality education, entrepreneurial skills, and psychosocial support for underserved children in slums and remote communities to enable them to realize their full potential and become social reformers.
In 7 years Otto has worked with over 10,100 volunteers across 35 countries to provide educational scholarships and series of development support to over 72,400 children from 42 communities across Nigeria, built various early childhood development centers, e-library, health center, technology and Innovation Labs serving thousands of children.
He has a bachelor’s degree in Health science from the University of Port Harcourt, an executive master’s in Project Management from CUPE, UK, a certificate in Social Change, Innovation and Social Entrepreneurship from the United Nations University for Peace, Costa Rica and various development based courses around leadership, development finance, governance from Henley Business School, University of Stellenbosch Business School, MIT etc.
He has received various awards and recognition together with his team. Otto is a founding member of the Commonwealth Alliance for Young Entrepreneurs – West Africa, a member of the Human Capital Development commission of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group, a co-founder of the Education Reform and Innovation Team and an Ambassador for Junior Achievement Nigeria.
He is a LEAP Social Innovator Fellow, a common purpose African fellow and a Mandela Washington Fellow. He served as the Chair of the West and Central African Regional Advisory Board for Presidents Obama’s Young African Leaders Initiative and sits on the Board of the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund.
